Emmerdale the battle ground for online bingo sites?

It seems that the soap Emmerdale has become the battleground of the online bingo sites, of course with Emmerdale being sponsored by Tombola Bingo it was always going to become almost bingo centric. Last Week Emmerdale’s ad breaks were almost totally bingo orientated, and even though we are all big fans of bingo you start to wonder if they shouldn’t be spread out a little. Clearly bingo companies are trying to grab the attention of the ‘floating’ bingo players and as the audience demographic for Emmerdale and Coronation Street is a good fit for the target audience for bingo, it makes good commercial sense for the bingo sites to advertise around these programmes.

I will play bingo, I will play bingo, I will ……

For the team in the Bingo Hideout office though we started to wonder if it was really necessary. Our belief is that with young families all over the country settling down to watch the soaps at home at 7.00 pm, is this really the right time to have so many online bingo ads? It became almost a drip feed of bingo images, and some might even go as far to say brainwashing. Should the attention of the viewing public and in particular youngsters fresh from school, be the target of bingo sites? Surely the commercial breaks should not be so dominated by online bingo companies, one does start to wonder if young minds should be exposed to such continued and sustained exposure to the lure of gambling. What next for the bingo advertisers? Gambling ads in the breaks of CITV, to grab the attention of the yummy mummies watching TV with their young kids?

Obviously Bingo Hideout is all about online bingo and we wholeheartedly believe that adults should be free to enjoy their online bingo games should they wish to do so, but maybe youngsters should not be exposed so excessively. We often hear complaints about TV companies and their product placements targeting youngsters with images of fast food, fizzy drinks, etc., and if this is the case then surely young kids should not be exposed to an overdose of gambling adverts? We wonder if the ASA shouldn’t be looking at putting all TV ads post watershed or limiting to only one online bingo or gambling ad per hour.

Janet and John play online bingo?

Tasty Bingo was one of the bingo sites that featured in the ad break for Emmerdale last week, and for a new bingo site grabbing such a prime spot must have taken a substantial amount of cash. Clearly it makes sense to get as much exposure for any new bingo site when they are launched but if the ASA are not going to make the rules to restrict the amount of ads then maybe sites like Tasty Bingo should choose to advertise later in the soap schedule as a sign of their respect for family values. Brash, brassy and shocking pink, Gina Bingo will launch onto the online bingo market on 25th March. Mecca Bingo playing ladies released from lift by firefighters

A group of Mecca Bingo players visiting their local bingo hall in Huddersfield apparently got stuck in a lift at the bingo venue. The small group of six people entered the lift at the Mecca Bingo hall last Wednesday evening, 10th March but couldn't open the doors to exit. The group of Mecca Bingo fans were trapped for nearly half an hour and eventually had to be released by a fire crew called to the scene who managed to release the bingo players after forcing the lift door.

Paramedics treated pensioner

All of the trapped people were distressed at the time of the incident according to the local paper, though all were released safely in the end. One of the party, an elderly lady of 78 had to be treated by paramedics for the effects of claustrophobia on being released from the Mecca Bingo hall lift. Luckily no serious harm was done with only a bit of shock and distress and after treatment at the Mecca Bingo site the pensioner along with the other bingo players were all allowed home.

Flowers and a sorry for trapped women

The staff at the Mecca Bingo hall in Folly Hall, Huddersfield were obviously relieved that none of the players suffered any lasting ill effects from their ordeal and in way of apology the Mecca Bingo hall Management team arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be sent to each of the ladies that had endured the upset of being trapped. Thankfully Huddersfield Mecca Bingo has now had the lift fixed by an engineer, and it is now fully operational again. So don’t worry ladies and gents if you are planning on a visit to the Huddersfield Mecca Bingo hall, as the chances of lightening striking twice is very slim so you won't miss your bingo games!

Bingo Confidential UK TV screening battle?

Bingo Hideout have heard from the producer of the Independent film Bingo Confidential, Susan Benfatto, that after battling to try to get one UK TV company interested in screening the new comedy bingo film, they now have two that are considering the possibility of a UK screening. Ok so there might be a slight exaggeration on our part saying there is a battle but there is definite interest at last from both C4 and Five television channels. Just like buses you wait and wait and then two come along together!

Rally the bingo troops

Bingo Hideout readers may remember that Susan and her team were keen to get the UK offline and online bingo community behind the cause to get C4 to agree to screen the movie. Bingo Hideout was also asked by Bingo Confidential to get behind the cause by rallying our troop of trusty readers and asking them to contact C4 with a request to show the film on UK TV. Clearly all the activity from bingo players is now working from the latest developments.

Readers may remember seeing our news on the Bingo Confidential film, we wanted to get behind the cause because there is a real shortage of films in this genre and yet we believe the subject matter is a popular one and certainly one that our readers would associate with. We love anything bingo and have written a few articles on the exciting comedy film Bingo Confidential, and most likely we will continue to do so.

Mecca Bingo’s got talent for marketing!

The news that Mecca Bingo has signed an agreement with the makers of Britain’s Got Talent show, is testament to how great the online bingo organisation is at self promotion. Freemantle Media have agreed to allow Mecca to use the name and marketing material to promote a new bingo room at the Mecca Bingo site, based on the popular talent show. Obviously the partnership with Mecca Bingo isn’t going to do Britain’s Got Talent any harm either, but for Mecca Bingo this is without doubt a major coup.

Gala Bingo hall Hounslow celebrates £253k High 5 jackpot

The Gala Bingo hall in Hounslow became the most thrilling place in West London if not the UK after a winner netted the High 5 jackpot meaning all the members of the game received a bit of the Gala Bingo winner 's £253k fortune.
